Practice Areas
The Barton Law Group, LLC focuses on several different areas of law that include the following:
(1) Business Law: Business law includes consultation and litigation regarding the laws that govern commerical and residential real estate, construction and enforcement of contracts and leases, commercial transactions, collections, employment, property, insurance policy interpretation, and formation and construction of business organizations, which includes registering limited liability companies and corporations. Landlord and tenant law concerns leasing and purchasing property and the rights of property owners, renters, and property managers. Typical examples of these disputes include breach of lease agreements by landlords or tenants, constructive and actual tenant eviction, rent default and collection, as well as access to rental property.
(2) Personal Injury: Personal injury cases are those that involve physical or mental injuries that result from intentional or negligent (i.e., unintentional) acts of another person. The most common examples are injuries from negligence related to automobile collisions and falling down. Typical intentional acts are assault and battery (e.g., hitting a person), tresspass, and defamation. A third type of personal injury law is called strict liability where a defendant is liable due to the creation of a dangerous product or condition that injures someone.
(3) Trusts and Wills: Trusts and wills are forms of estate planning that can ensure that your money and property is properly protected and distributed both while you are alive and when you die. Trusts and wills also provide tax benefits. Living wills are also important to effectively communicate your healthcare wishes if and when you become unable to clearly articulate them due to illness or injury.
(4) Traffic, DWI, and DUI: Drivers receive traffic citations for not following the motor vehicle code of the state in which they were driving. The types of violations are numerous with speeding being the most common. Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Driving Under the Influence (DUI) are other types of criminal acts that occur while operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level (BAC) at or above 0.08%.
(5) Class Action Litigation: Class actions are cases that involve one client that represents many others with the same problem. These cases typically deal with losses that are too small to justify bringing a lawsuit individually. The procedure of a class action protects consumers from being nickeled and dimed by corporations who know people cannot or will not sue over small amounts of money derived from corportate fraud. Class actions are a mechanism that protects all consumers by holding corporations accountable for their wrongdoings.
BLG litigates other types of cases than those listed above, so if this list does not include your legal issue, please contact BLG to find out how we can help you.
